In these past few months, I’ve been amazed by the amount of work that can get done within a single day, week, month- so long as focus is found. Influenced by many devoted workers in this world, I was fortunate to be guided by my father, a man who built his first home, a log cabin at the age of 20 with his own two hands. As well as my mother, a woman who worked continuously, doling out devoted love to all around her, even if she had little wind left in her sails. We hardly heard a peep of dismay from my parents as they built their lives full, and meanwhile these identical ethics were engrained into my siblings and I. “The most effective way to do it, is to do it.” – Amelia Earhart
Perhaps because of these reasons, at times I resist rest. Yet as responsibilities begin to pile high, the importance to restore the soul has become increasingly valuable. So we end this month and begin anew, of thinking of ways to not resist rest. Take a moment to step outside and allow the sun to beam through… see a bike, jump on and fly… encounter a body of water, jump in and float. Be still, restore and repose.
